In rural India, menstruation takes girls out of school and women out of work.
Accessible, affordable, 100% biodegradable sanitary pads.
Making menstruation a non-issue frees women to pursue life’s opportunities.
Over 300 million women in rural India resort to using ineffective and unhygienic alternatives such as rags, corn husk, jute and newspaper to manage their menstruation. Doing so not only poses health risks but also reinforces negative social stigmas associated with menstruation. This problem impacts the daily endeavors of women, putting their income and education at stake.
We have designed a pad that is 100% biodegradable and 43% cheaper than the average retail price point in India. We will partner with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to identify and train female entrepreneurs. These women will be the trusted source to sell our products to consumers while educating them on the use and benefits of our product.
Azadi in Hindi means freedom and independence. We can drastically improve the quality of life for 300 million women. By enabling women to better manage their menstruation, Azadi will empower them to freely pursue life’s opportunities. We envision that these women will emerge as independent individuals who contribute to the inclusive growth of their communities.
We would like to highlight some of the supporters that donated to our cause on Indiegogo.
